Oh hay guys I got my hair did.

This is how it naturally dries. Last night was straightened and lopsided because I did it myself. Now it is back to wavy and good. Very short though. Like, above the shoulders. Weird for me. I love it, I can totally straighten it and it looks really good that way, but right now it's just dried naturally. It's short.

What would you change about your country if you could be in charge for a day?

I can't even imagine where I'd start with that, honestly. There are so many flawed things about our country right now. I'd really like to get us out of Iraq, but I don't think being in charge for a day would make that possible. The United States is kind of messed up right now. Which is why I'm supporting Barack Obama for president in the November election...

I really love Sophie. She's doing something for me that is just so sweet, and I really...I know I take my friends for granted sometimes but she's giving me the reason I should never do that. I love her. I love all my friends. I wish I weren't leaving most of them behind when I go to college.

But I know that the people who care about me will stay in contact. Jenni, you best be visiting me. And all my online friends, Kat, Quinn (although we've met in real life!) will stay my friends too. And Lily, I'm moving closer to you now!

This is a poem I wrote for poetry class. Jenni has already read it, of course:

Lawn Flamingo
All day on one wobbly pink leg he stands
He knows he cannot move from the soft comfort of the lawn, his home
But he does not understand why
Awkward in his gracefulness, he’d love to tell the other birds how beautiful he really is
But he cannot speak

Seasons change and his body becomes weighed down with snow
In the summer, screaming children run through the sprinklers and knock him over
He is not put upright for days
By the time he regains his footing, one leg firmly clamped to his side,
He has seen the world in a way he never has before
There is more to life than standing in one place
More to life than watching the world to change around him
Now every scorching day is filled with longing to pull his foot from the ground and fly

Years pass and he is no longer so vibrantly pink
The sun has faded him to a dull brown
He has seen others of his kind pop up in the neighbor’s yard
But when he tried to call to them
They just stared back with plastic eyes

Someday he will make his escape
And when he does, he will be like the birds he has seen peck around his thin legs
Someday
He will fly

I am currently creating custom filters for different people. I have three.

Let me know if you want to be on:

1. The filter that discusses sex openly
2. The filter that discusses depression and how I cope with it
3. The filter that has my poems and writing

Well, I've decided that I'm going to use this journal for my personal thoughts and some of the communities that I post in more, and use my old journal for all the communities that I read or watch but don't actively participate in. The way I see it, the people that have added me and will add me over the next few days are the people I want reading this journal, they're the people who have invested interest in my life, so I think that making this journal my personal one is probably a good idea.

It will become friends only in the next few days, once everyone adds me and things get underway. I'm really excited about switching journals, actually. It's kind of stupid, but I love new beginnings. And this is my third livejournal!

Molly and I thought this would be a good idea, to highlight how we've changed since our last journals. So we are both doing this survey that we did back in 2006.

It's an alternate journal for me. I may switch over here eventually but really, that's too much of a pain in the ass. Perhaps I'll just try and get everyone added here and then see what comes of it.

For those of you who haven't noticed, I am also [info]dontbesarky
